This is a story about three people who are chosen to carry legendary weapons and save the world from an evil that has yet to be revived. First there is Rugi-sama, a japanese villager from the edo era and the top student in his dojo. Then there is Ken, who lives in a big city and is the champion in his arcade. Finally there is the sweet and innocent Maiki, who comes from a village built high in the trees. These three heroes must band together to stop a great evil from being resurrected and causing an eternity of destruction; an evil that goes by the name of Jurra. Our heroes must stop the resurrection before it's too late! Such is the set-up of Path of a Blade, one of the few fictions posted during the VGMusic era of RP Haven!

GeminiSaint     I don't know why I read this story. Maybe I just had nothing better to do at that time, and I took pity on the guy who posted it hoping to get a feedback that never came. That, and the title sounded promising somewhat. Whatever the case, I started reading it, finding nothing special. Why I kept reading it? I'm not sure either. I think I hoped to run into a clever plot twist that would give events so far a new layer of meaning. I hoped to find something that would redeem the story, for it surely had some potential. However, I got to the end, and nothing of that ultimately happened.
This is a generic story of the heroic fantasy genre, you know, sword and sorcery stuff. Its concept and overall plot is as generic as it can be, with three generic teenagers and their fight against a generic bad guy. That's all there is to it. There's little, if any, character development; there's hardly any plot twist, there's nothing interesting about the main characters or the villains; many dialogue lines lack naturality, feeling forced and not too believable...
Note that I'm not saying this is a bad story. Path of a Blade isn't a bad story; it's just that it isn't a good story either. It's just a meh story. Yeah, that's what it is.
